Arrest none in GCC area sans warrant: EC BNP candidates campaigning for the party ahead of GCC election

GAZIPUR: The Election Commission (EC) directed not to arrest anybody without warrant in the city until Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) election is over.

A letter signed by joint secretary Farhad Ahmad Khan of EC was sent to superintendent of police (SP) of Gazipur.

GCC election will be held on Tuesday (June 26) - a city adjacent to Dhaka.

The directive came in response to a written application submitted to Chief Election Commissioner (CFC) by a high-profile BNP delegation, requesting to stop harassment and arrest for ensuring an election-friendly atmosphere for candidates of all parties.

The directive says, “Not a single resident or voter of GCC area can be arrested without warrant until election is over.”
