Drug dealer killed in Sirajganj ‘gunfight’

SIRAJGANJ: An alleged drug dealer was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Mohammadpur field of Sirajganj municipality on Saturday (June 22).

The deceased was identified as Jahangir Hossen, 32, son of late Hatem Ali, of Purbopara area of Mohammadpur railway slum.

Mohammad Dawood, Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station told Banglanews that police railed the spot, around 3 pm, at midnight as they had secret information of drug dealing.  

During the raid, a gang of drug dealers started firing bullets at police. In self defense, police retaliated.  At one stage, drug dealers retreated. As a result, bullet-hit body of Jahangir was found, then after being taken to hospital, doctors pronounced him dead, the OC said.

One pistol, 4 rounds of bullets, 105 pieces of yaba tablets, 25 bottles of phensedyls were recovered from the spot.

Jahangir had seven drug-related cases filed in Sadar Police Station, the police official said.
