Road accidents claim 38 lives in 11 dists

DHAKA: At least thirty eight people have been killed following separate road accidents in eleven districts of the country on Saturday (June 23).  

Besides, many injured passengers are undergoing treatment at various hospitals.

 In Gaibandha, a bus, after losing control, bumped into a roadside tree, leaving at least 18 killed at Garuhati area of Palashbari upazila.

Primarily, the deceased could not be identified, quoting Md Amirul Islam, deputy assistant director of Rangpur Fire Service.

In Natore, 2 passengers of a CNG auto rickshaw were crushed under a truck in front of Alaypurosto Komla Super Market of Natore town.

3 more persons were wounded in the accident, Md Mohiuddin, Natore Fire Station official told Banglanews.

In Gopalganj, 2 persons were killed in Ghonapara area on Gopalganj-Tungipara road, Md Monirul Islam, OC of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station told Banglanews.

In Sirajganj, a head-on collision between a bus and a truck caused deaths of the truck driver and the helper at Bhuyagati area of Raiganj upazila.

20 more bus passengers were also wounded, Abdul Kader Jilani, OC of Hatikumrul Highway Police endorsed the accident.

In Savar, 1 person was killed and at least 10 others were injured at Turag area of Amin Bazar in Savar, quoting Jamal, Sub Inspector of Amin Bazar police outpost under Savar Model Police Station.

In Rangpur, a collision between a bus and a truck claimed 6 lives at Sholeyashah Bazar area of Taraganj upazila of Rangpur, said Abdul baki, OC of Taraganj Highway Police.

In Lakshmipur, 2 people were killed in a crash between a CNG-powered auto rickshaw and a truck in Ramgati upazila.

In Faridpur, a bus driver and a bus helper were killed on the spot following a bus plunge in Bhanga upazila.

Besides, at least 20 injured were admitted to Faridpur Medical college Hospital and Bhanga Upazila Health Complex.

Saifujjaman, Senior station officer of Faridpur Fire Service told Banglanews that accident happened around 9:30 am, at Pur Sadordi area.

In Gopalganj, a van driver was crushed under a bus at Daserhat area of Muksudpur upazila. At least 10 people were also injured.

The deceased was identified as Lokman Sheikh, 50, son of Ismail Sheikh, of Hatimpur village of the same upazila, Mostafa Kamal Pasha, OC of Muksudpur Police Station told Banglanews.

In Narsingdi, a man died after being hit by a motorbike in front of Laki Akther Park of Moja union of Raipura upazila.

The deceased was identified as Hasan Miah, 30, of Bhairab upazila, Joynal Miah, manger of Laki Akther Park endorsed the accident.

In Cox’s Bazar, an elderly woman was crushed under a vehicle while crossing the road at Bhangarmuk area of Chakaria upazila.

The deceased was identified as Solema Khatun, wife of late Mohammad Sayeed, of Japua area of Maheshkhali upazila, Chiringa Highway Police Outpost in-charge Nure Alom said.

The deceased were named as Milon and Hajera, Arisul Haque, OC of Ramgati Police Station told Banglanews.
