DHAKA: The UN Secretary-General's Special Adviser for the Prevention of Genocide Adama Dieng on Friday said the Security Council is taking steps to prevent terrorist and militant activities in Rohingya camps of Cox’s Bazar.
An 'Action Plan' is being prepared from the Security Council for this purpose. The plan will be able to avert future terrorist activities in the camps, he said.
Adama Dieng made the remarks while addressing as special guest at a workshop organized by UNDP at a hotel in city’s Gulshan area on Friday (June 22).
In his speech, Adama urged people of all walks of life starting from the root level to work together for preventing terrorism and militancy in local and national levels.
At the program, UN Resident Coordinator Mia Seppo said a vested quarter is trying to mislead the sheltered Rohingyas in Cox’s Bazar through communal incitement which is creating a security risk at the national level.
Representatives of UN, different international aid agencies and Foreign Ministry were also present at the function.
