Road accidents claim 9 lives in 4 dists

DHAKA:  A total of nine people have been reportedly killed by road accidents in Bhola, Dhaka, Khagrachhari and Khulna districts on Thursday (June 21).

In Bhola, a face-to-face collision between a trolley and an auto rickshaw caused deaths of two persons, including a child in Char Fasson upazila.

The deceased were identified as Sayem, 12, from Aligaon village, and Monsur, 45, from Aslampur area.

2 occupants of auto rickshaw died instantly at Helipad area in the morning, quoting Anamul Haque, Officer-in-Charge of Char Fasson Police Station.

In Dhaka, a young man was killed as a pick-up van hit him while he was crossing road in Rayerbagh area of the capital city.  

The deceased was identified as Manik, 22, son of one Abbas Ali in Kodomtoli area. Manik used to work as a bus helper, Jatrabari Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdul Qadir told Banglanews.

In Khagrachhari, a motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries at Khagrachhari hospital after being hit by a microbus at Lemuchhari of Mahalchhari Upazila.

He was identified as Sugoto Chakma, 42, of Maicchasora area of Panchhari Upazila. He was an employee of Brac, Md Hossain, Sub Inspector of Mahalchhari Police Station told Banglanews.

In Khulna, at least five persons were killed as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch after losing control in Dumuria upazila.

Dumuria Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Habil Hossain told Banglanews that fire service workers were working at the spot.
