DHAKA: Law enforcers detained 51 alleged drug addicts and peddlers during an anti-narcotics drive at Geneva Camp of Mohammadpur in Dhaka on Wednesday (June 20).

Moreover, some 700 pieces of yaba pills were seized in the drive conducted by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

Some 300 police personnel took part in the drive that started at 11:00am and continued till noon. 

Mohammadpur zone additional deputy-commissioner (ADC) Wahidul Islam told Banglanews that the drive was carried out acting on tip-off. Aside from Police, DB, CTTC and dog squad took part in it. 

A total of 51 people were detained and will face legal action. However, many drug peddlers have fled the area after receiving information about the raid, he added.
