Road accidents claim 7 lives in 6 dists

DHAKA:  A total of seven people have been reportedly killed by road accidents in Chattogram, Magura, Narsingdi, Jhenaidah, Joypurhat, and Thakurgaon districts on Monday (June 18).

In Magura, two persons- father and daughter-were killed as their van got hit by a bus in Moghirdhal area of Magura Sadar upazila, Ilias Hossen, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station told our correspondent.

The deceased was identified as Momtaj Ali, 32, his daughter Sumaiya, 6, hailed from Harishpur village under Shalikha upazila.

In Chattogram, a man was declared dead at Chattogram Medical College Hospital after being hit by a bus at Mithadighir par area of Satkania upazila.  

The deceased was identified as Shamim Ahmed, 50, Alauddin Talukder, Assistant Sub Inspector of district police told our staff correspondent.

In Narsingdi, a rickshaw puller was killed on the spot as he was hit by an Ena Paribahan bus in fron of Shilamandi Union Parishad of Narsingdi Sadar Upazila.

The deceased was identified as Hasem, 25, Humayun, Sub Inspector of Sadar Traffic Police confirmed the accident to Banglanews.

In Joypurhat, a woman died on the way to hospital as she was hit by a motorcycle at Baniapara of Joypurhat Sadar Upazila.

The deceased was identified as Motijon Bewa, 55, wife of late Joyen Uddin, Asadul Islam, ward-6 member of the Bombu Union Parishad confirmed the death to Banglanews.

In Jhenaidah, a motorcyclist was killed as he was hit by a microbus in Arappur area on Jhenaidah-Kushtia highway, Emdadul Haque Sheikh, OC of Jhenaidah Sadar police Station told Banglanews.

The deceased was identified as Ajijur Rahman Lilu, son of Habibur Rahman, from Jhenaidah Sadar upazila

In Thakurgaon, a head-on collision between a BRTC bus and a truck caused the deaths of two persons at 29 mile area on Thakurgaon-Dhaka highway.

The deceased were identified as supervisor of the bus Abdur Rahim, 40, son of Abdur Rahim, from Bogra, and a passenger Arif Mahmud, 42, son of Abdul Ganishar, of Faridpur. 

Thakurgaon Sadar police Station OC Abdul Latif endorsed the deaths.
