JESSORE: An alleged drug dealer was killed in a reported ‘gunfight’ between two rival groups of drug dealers in Abhaynagar upazila of Jessore on Monday (June 18).

The deceased was identified as Shahidul Islam, 34, quoting Sheikh Gani Miah, officer-in-charge of Abhaynagar Police Station.

Sensing presence of law enforcers, the drug peddlers dispersed. Later, police recovered the bullet-hit body of Shahidul from the spot. After being taken to Upazila health complex, doctors declared him dead, the OC said.

12 to 14 drug cases are filed against Shahidul.

Police also recovered a pipe gun, two rounds of bullets, 120 pieces of yaba tablets from the spot, the OC added.
