DHAKA: Maintaining schedules for the Eid special trains is on the verge of disaster as home-bound passengers started to throng Kamalapur railway station on Thursday (June 14).

It was seen at Kamalpur station, the Rajshahi-bound silk city express was reset to leave station at 4:50pm that was originally scheduled at 2:40pm. Moreover, special trains are also facing similar schedule blow with half an hour to one hour delay.

According to rail station sources, Eid special and local trains usually move in delay as they are privately owned. During Eid, the setback gets worse handling huge pressure from passengers.

Meanwhile passengers are suffering while waiting for long in overly crowded station amid intense hot weather. Many families were seen at the station sweating in stress and waiting for the train. Moreover, all passengers will have to face one last struggle while boarding the train through crowd.

Chapai Nawabganj-bound Rajshahi express arrived at Kamalpur hours behind schedule. The train left the station at 3:00 pm instead of prefixed schedule 12:20pm. Of all the Eid special trains, Lalmonihat-bound train is worst at maintaining schedule with 3 to 4 hours of delay.
A total of 69 trains will leave Dhaka to different destinations.

Bangladesh Railway station manager Sitangshu Chakrabarty said the situation is not out of control yet as we are trying our best to maintain train schedules despite huge crowd.
