DHAKA: A total of ten people have been reportedly killed by road and train accidents in Rangpur, Gaibandha, Cumilla, Gopalganj, and Dhaka districts on Thursday (June 14).
In Rangpur, three motorcyclists were crushed by a bus in Kaunia upazila of Rangpur.
The deceased are—Abul Kalam, 16, Sakku Mia, 18, and Soleman Ali.
The accident happened at Holdibari rail gate area around 8:30am, Kaunia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mamun Or-Rashid told Banglanews.
A speedy bus rammed the motorcycle-the trio was riding, leaving two dead on the spot and another injured. He also succumbed to injuries while was being taken to a hospital, added the OC.
In Gaibandha, at least two passengers were killed and 20 others wounded in a head-on collision between two buses in Gobindaganj Upazila.
The casualties could not be identified yet.
Two passengers died instantly at Boalia area on Dhaka-Rangpur highway, while some injured were transported to Gobindaganj Health Complex and some others to Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College, quoting Aktharuzzaman, officer-in-charge of Gobindaganj Highway Police Station.
In Cumilla, two occupants of a CNG auto rickshaw were killed and three others wounded as their vehicle was hit by a pick-up van in front of Palki Cinema Hall in Chandina upazila of Cumilla.
Md Shamsul Islam, OC of Chandina Police Station endorsed the accident.
In Gopalganj, an unidentified woman was crushed under a bus in Chapta area of Kashiani Upazila of the district.
Monirul Islam, OC of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station, told Banglanews that a speedy bus, after hitting the woman, ran away on Dhaka-Khulna highway.
In Dhaka, an unidentified person was crushed under a train while crossing rail line in city’s Khilgaon area.
Dhaka (Kamalapur) Railway Police recovered the body.
In another incident, right leg of a youth was snatched away by a running train when struggling to get on a Rajshahi-bound train at Airport railway station, Dhaka on Thursday (June 14).
The victim was identified as Sohel Rana, 30, from Sundarganj upazila of Gaibandha.
Rabiulah, Airport police outpost Assistant Sub-Inspector told, Banglanews that the accident happened around 3:20 pm. The wounded was hospitalized locally.
