DHAKA: A woman was killed allegedly by her mentally depressed son in city’s Dakshinkhan area on early Sunday (June 3).

The deceased was identified as Jahanara Akhter Lili, 48, wife of one Abu Taher.

Dakshinkhan police station officer-in-charge (OC) Tapan Kumar Saha told Banglanews that Jahanara along with her husband and only son, Tanzil Ahmed, 25, has been living in a tin-shade house in Madhyapara area of Dakshinkhan. Jahanara used to scold his son for his jobless life after graduation. During a heated conversation on Saturday night, Tanzil strangled his mother to death using a towel. 

Deceased’s brother filed a murder case. Accused Tanzil was arrested and the body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC added.
