Bangladesh, India bilateral ties a model to world: PM

FROM SHANTINIKETAN: Terming Bangladesh-India relationship as versatile and multidimensional, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the world often recognize the bilateral ties between the two countries as a model. 

The premier also said the versatile and multi-dimensional relationship between Bangladesh and India has reached a new height in the last nine years and that two countries will be able to solve any of their problems maintaining the bonds.
 
The Prime Minister made the remarks while addressing the inaugural ceremony of Bangladesh Bhavan at Visva-Bharati University in Santiniketan on Friday (May 25).

Sheikh Hasina further said, ‘We, the two neighboring countries, want to move together always. If there’s a neighbouring country, there may be some problems with it. We’ve solved the problems one by one. I don’t want to break the excellent momentum of this ceremony raising the rest few problems.’

Hasina hoped that the two nations will be able to achieve socio-economic development through full utilization of mutual cooperation.

Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi jointly unveiled the plaque of Bangladesh Bhaban at Vivsa-Bharati University in Santiniketan.

Earlier in the morning, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left Dhaka for Kolkata on a two-day official visit to India at the invitation of her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.

A Biman Bangladesh Airlines VVIP flight carrying the premier and her entourage members took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, in the morning. 

After the reception at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata, Sheikh Hasina went to Shantiniketan near Bolpur in Birbhum district of West Bengal, approximately 180 km north of Kolkata by a helicopter.

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor and Prime Minister's four Advisers on Political, Economic, Foreign and Energy affairs are accompanying the Prime Minister.
