Tasfia murder: accused Asif remanded Asif Mizan

CHITTAGONG: A district court has granted three-day remand for Md. Mizanur Rahman alias Wahid Bin Aslam alias Asif Mizan in a case filed over the murder of schoolgirl Tasfia Amin in Chittagong.

Metropolitan magistrate Al Imran Khan passed the order on Friday afternoon (May 25) after Patenga police produced accused Asif before court seeking 7-day remand. 

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police Nirmalendu Bikash Chakraborty confirmed the matter to Banglanews. 

Earlier on Wednesday night (May 23), Patenga thana police detained Asif, a key accused of the case, from Pachlaish area of Chittagong city. 

Later he was questioned by policemen and revealed some important information to the case, said Assistant Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (Karnafuli Zone) Jahidul Islam.

On May 2, Patenga police recovered the body of Tasfia Amin, 16, a ninth grade student of Sunshine School and College, from Patenga sea beach. 

Later in the day, police detained victim’s friend Adnan Mirza, 16, ninth grade student of Bangladesh Elementary School and son of one Iskandar Mirza from Jalalabad housing society area of Chittagong city.

On May 3, victim’s father Mohammad Amin filed a murder case with Patenga police station accusing six people including Adnan Mirza as prime accused.

The other accused are Shawkat Miraj, Asif Mizan, Imtiaz Sultan Ikram, Juba League leader Firoz and his associate Sohel.
