MP Bodi’s brother-in-law killed in 'yaba traders'' shootout

COX’S BAZAR: A brother-in-law of Cox’s Bazar (Ukhia-Teknaf) lawmakerAbdur Rahman Bodi, known as an alleged yaba pill smuggler, was killed in a reported shootout among two groups of suspected drug dealers in Ramu upazila early Friday (May 25). 

The deceased, Akter Kamal, is the younger brother of MP Bodi’s sister Shamsunnar’s husband and a ward member of Sabrang union parisahd under Teknaf. 

Ramu Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Liakat Ali Sikder said that a shootout took place among two groups of yaba smugglers, over sharing money.

On information, police went to the spot and found Kamal dead.

LG gun, cartridge and yaba pills were recovered besides the body, on the spot. 

Kamal is a listed yaba trader. He was accused in five cases over various charges including yaba smuggling and human trafficking, said the OC. 

The body was kept at the Cox’s Bazar sadar hospital morgue for an autopsy, Cox’s Bazar Additional Superintendent of Police Afzurul Haque Tutul told Banglanews.
