1 lakh Rohingyas’ relocation to Bhasanchar soon: PM

DHAKA:  Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said one lakh Rohingya refugees, who are now living in Bangladesh, will be shifted to Bhasanchar Island of Noakhali soon. 

The premier came up with this statement when visiting UNFPA Executive Director and UN Under Secretary General Natalia Kanem at her office on Wednesday (May 23)

Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting.

One lakh Rohingyas will be shifted to Bhashanchar soon, according to PM’s Press Secretary. 

Speaking about monsoon, Prime Minister said, “Rohingyas will be given accommodations in Bhashanchar temporarily, until Myanmar takes back its citizens.”

Sheikh Hasina said to Natalia Kanem, “Local people have given their overwhelming support to the displaced Rohingyas on humanitarian grounds.”

Natalia appreciated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for country’s role in giving shelter to Rohingyas.
