DHAKA: Nine more suspected drug peddlers were killed in countrywide anti-narcotics crackdown from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning (May 23).

Our correspondents report from Rangpur, Kushtia, Cumilla, Feni, Gaibandha, Lalmonirhat, Thakurgaon, and Jamalpur.

In Kushtia, two drug dealers – Fatik alias Gaffar Sheikh, 37, and Liton Sheikh, 40 – were killed in separate ‘gunfights’ with police in Kumarkhali and Bheramara upazilas, quoting Abdul Khaleq Officer-in-Charge of Kumarkhali police station.

In Rangpur, a listed drug dealer-Md Shahin-was killed in Hajirhat area of Rangpur sadar upazila, according to Saifur Rahman Saif, additional police superintendent of the district.  

Besides, a sack of Phensendyls, and local arms were seized from the spot.

In Comilla, Nurul Absar Ishak alias Isa, an allege drug peddler, was killed in Samarchar area on the bank of Gumti River under Cumilla Sadar upazila, quoting Md Abu Salam, OC of Kotwali Model police.

In Kushtia, two drug dealers – Fatik alias Gaffar Sheikh, 37, and Liton Sheikh, 40 – were killed in separate ‘gunfights’ with police in Kumarkhali and Bheramara upazilas, quoting Abdul Khaleq OC of Kumarkhali police station.

In Gaibandha, a suspected drug dealer, by the name of Raju Mia, was killed in a shootout with Rapid Action Battalion, said RAB-13 of Gaibandha. 

In Jamalpur, an unidentified suspected drug peddler was killed in a shootout with police in Shahartoli area of Jamalpur.  A thousand pieces of yaba tablets, pistol, and three rounds of bullets were recovered from the spot.

In Thakurgaon, Aktabul alias Aktabul, an alleged drug dealer, was killed in a shootout with police in Pirganj upazila. 

In Feni, Md Faruk, 35, was killed in Kalipal area of Feni town. He was an alleged drug dealer.

One shooter gun, 5 rounds of bullets, 22 thousands pieces of yaba pills, and a private car were seized from the spot, quoting Shafayat Jamil Fahim, captain of RAB-7 Feni camp.  

In Lalmonirhat, a listed drug peddler, Eshar Ali, 35, was killed in Dhrala area of Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila. At that time, two police were also wounded.

Arms, hemp, Phensedyles were seized from them, said SM Rashidul Haque, Superintend of police of Lalmonirhat.
