DHAKA: In wake of the widespread criticism over the deaths of drug dealers in anti-drug abuse drives, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Kamal said the incidents are outcome of attacking the law enforcers.
“Only those (drug dealers), who brandish firearms or intend to open fire, get killed or injured,” he said.
The minister was talking to the reporters at his office in the secretariat, on Tuesday (May 22).
Asaduzzman Kamal further said the drug dealers are being brought under trial too, after detained in the drives.
However, a total of 11 suspected drug dealers were reported to be killed in the shootouts in different districts only between late hours of Sunday (May 21) to early Tuesday (May 22), amid the countrywide crackdown against drug menace.
