Why not compensation for 5-yr old Jisan’s death: HC

DHAKA: The High Court issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain why they should not be directed to pay Tk one crore compensation to the family of the five-year-old Jisan, who drowned in a canal in Adabor thana area in Dhaka early March this year.

An HC bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Zafar Ahmed issued the rule and passed interim order Tuesday (May 22), during the hearing upon a writ petition over public interest.  
 
LGRD Secretary, RAJUK, RAJUK Chairman, Dhaka’s Deputy Commissioner, Dhaka North City Corporation, WASA and eight defendants have been asked to reply the rule within four weeks.  
 
Barrister Abdul Halim, on behalf of Children Charity Bangladesh Foundation, filed the writ.
 
Hailed from Kishoreganj, Jisan drowned after falling in a canal besides their residence in Nobodoy Housing in Adabor, on March 9. Fire service workers recovered the body.
