DHAKA: Bangladesh and Austria have opened a new door to communicate by signing an Air Service Agreement between the two countries.
Bangladesh Civil Aviation Minister Shajahan Kamal and Austrian Transport Minister Norbert Hofer signed the aviation agreement in Vienna on May 17, to begin cargo and passenger flights between the two countries.
The minister disclosed the matter to media Monday (May 21), after returning home from Vienna.
As per the agreement, the airlines companies of the countries can operate seven passenger flights and seven cargos each week.
Moreover, Bangladesh facilitated the communication with home for its immigrants living in the countries next to Austria too, through signing the agreement.
Several airlines companies of the both countries expressed interest to operate direct flights. The frequency fixed initially in the agreement could be raised, considering demand in future, said Civil Aviation Authority Bangladesh (CAAB) Director (Flight Safety & Regulations) Wing Commander Chowdhury M Ziaul Kabir.
