DHAKA: Eight suspected drug dealers were killed in separate ‘shootouts’ with the law enforcers in Narsingdi, Jashore, Jhenaidah, Chuadanga, Rajshahi and Tangail early Monday (May 21).

The incidents of reported shootouts happened separately between late Sunday (May 20) to early Monday (May 21).

Banglanews district correspondents from Narsingdi, Jashore, Jhenaidah, Chuadanga, Rajshahi and Tangail reported the incidents. Distinctive RAB and police officials also confirmed the incidents. 

In Narsingdi, a suspected drug dealer was killed in a reported shootout with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Palash thana area under Ghorashal Municipality, around 11:30pm Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Iman Ali, 45.

He was accused in six cases field over drug abuse.

In Tangail, a suspected drug dealer named ‘Abul Kalam Azad’ was killed in a reported shootout with RAB members in Ghatail upazila, around 12:30am Monday. 

A foreign pistol, magazine, three rounds of bullet, yaba pills and 100 bottles of phensedyl syrup were recovered from the spot.

In Jhenaidah, a suspected drug dealer was killed in a reported shootout with RAB members, on Kaliganj-Naldanga Road in Narendrapur area, around 1:30am.

The deceased was identified as Sobdul Mondal, 45.

Three RAB members were injured in the incident. They were admitted to Kaliganj upazila health complex.

A 9mm pistol, bullets, yaba pills and 100 bottles of phensedyl syrup were recovered from the spot. 

In Chuadanga, a suspected drug dealer was killed in a reported shootout with police members in Uthli village under Jibonnagar upazila, around 12:45am.

The deceased was identified as Jonab Ali, 32.

He was accused in 11 cases filed with separate police stations, over drug abuse.

Police said that three of them were injured in the incident. They are—Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Milon Hossain, Constable Walid Rahman and Constable Jewel.

A sack full of phensedyl, a short-gun, two cartridges and three machetes were recovered from the spot.

In Rajshahi, a suspected drug dealer was killed in a reported shootout with the RAB members at Chhoto Jamira area under Belpukur thana, at the dead of the night.

A pistol, bullets and yaba pills were recovered from the spot.  
 
In Jashore, three persons were killed in separate reported gunfights among the drug dealers in Torof Naoapara and Kholadanga areas. 

On information, police recovered the bodies and kept at Jashore 250-bed general hospital.

Arms including bullets, yaba pills and phensedyls were recovered from the spot.
