Myanmar 'forces' Rohingyas to leave no-man’s land Tombru border point

BANDARBHAN: Border Guard Police (BGP) of Myanmar has started using megaphones asking Rohingyas to leave no-man’s land and thus forcing them towards Bangladesh side of Tombru border point in Naikhyangchari upazila of Bandarban.

Around 5,000 Rohingyas have taken shelter in no man’s land area.

BGP personnel repeatedly used megaphones since Saturday morning to warn the Rohingyas for seeking shelter somewhere else.

Locals said Rohingyas built up houses in no man’s land areas for shelter during flash flood down from hills. BGP tried to prevent Rohingyas for building up houses and even forced them to move towards Bangladesh side.

On the other hand, Rohingyas are in panic by the sudden presence of BGP in Zero Line area.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) is on alert by the announcement of BGP on Myanmar side, Cox's Bazar BGB 34 battalion captain Lt. Colonel Manjurul Hasan Khan told Banglanews.
