Road crashes kill 2 in Dhaka

DHAKA: Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Shonir Akhra and Uttara areas of the capital city early Thursday (May 17). 

A bus rammed a motorcycle while overtaking, on Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover in Shonir Akhra of Jatrabari area, leaving the rider critically injured.

He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where the physician pronounced him dead. The deceased was identified as Nazim Uddin, 32, an employee of an English daily’s advertisement section.

The body was kept at the morgue for an autopsy, DMCH Police Outpost In-Charge Sub-Inspector (SI) Bacchu Mia told Banglanews.

In Uttara, a 30-year-old man was found critically, in front of BGB Market in Sector-7.  He was identified as Jakir.

Uttara West Police Station Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ziaur Rahman told Banglanews that the locals rescued the youth took him to Tongi General Hospital. Afterwards, he was shifted to DMCH as his condition was deteriorating. The physician at DMCH pronounced him dead, on arrival.

Jakir might have sustained injuries, being hit by a vehicle early in the morning, said the ASI. 

The body was kept at the morgue for an autopsy, he added.
