PM arrives in Australia

SYDNEY (AUSTRALIA): Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived here Friday (April 27) on a three-day official visit to Australia, to join Global Summit of Women.

The Thai Airways flight carrying the premier landed at Sydney International Airport, at 7:05am local time. 

Earlier, the flight took off Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 1:50pm Thursday (April 26). 

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister AKM Shahjahan Kamal, PM's Advisers HT Imam and Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Jatiya Sangsad Chief Whip ASM Feroz and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam saw her off at the airport in Dhaka.

The Prime Minister will be conferred Global Women's Leadership Award-2018 in the Summit. US-based Global Summit of Women is giving the award for Sheikh Hasina's leadership in women's education and entrepreneurship in Bangladesh.

Global Women Summit is an annual international gathering of women leaders from around the world. In the Summit the Prime Minister will highlight the government's initiatives for women's empowerment and mainstreaming them in the national development. 

The Prime Minister will also hold bilateral Meeting with the Prime Minister of Australia Malcom Turnbull on April 28. 

Prime Minister will be staying in the Intercontinental Sydney Hotel during the visit. She will leave Australia for home on April 29.
