No discussion held with Modi about polls: Quader

DHAKA: Ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said the AL delegation, during their recent visit to India, did not discuss anything about the upcoming general elections with Indian Prime Minister Naredra Modi.

Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges minister, made the remarks to reporters after a party meeting in AL chairperson Sheikh Hasina’s political office in Dhanmondi on Thursday (April 26).

Recently, a ruling party delegation led by Obaidul Quader visited India where they held talks with senior ruling BJP leaders including PM Modi.

Quader said the Indian government has given us lots of importance. PM Narendra Modi listened to us for over half an hour where we emphasized the interest of our people.

Mentioning that no discussion has been made with PM Modi about election, Quader said, “If we lose the election then India is not going to put us on power? Why would they do that? Only countrymen will decide our future not any foreign power.”
