DB official held with huge yaba pills in Cumilla

CUMILLA: Police detained an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Detective Branch (DB) of police with 4,000 pieces of yaba tablets from Dhaka-Chattagram Highway in Cumilla.

An accomplice, identified as Kawser, 28, hails from Protappur village under Cumilla Sadar South Upazila, was also detained.

The ASI, identified as Nasir Uddin, 38, son of Nuru Miah, hailing from Dotla village under Keronkhal union of Chandina Upazila, was detained in a drive conducted in Katherpool area under Chandina Upazila on Wednesday (April 25).

The duo was heading towards Chandina by motorbike. On suspicion, they were frisked; yaba tablets along with motorbike were seized from them, quoting a source of Chandina Police Station.

Confirming the matter to Banglanews, Md Ali Mahmud, officer-in-charge of Chandina Police Station, said the ASI tried not to reveal his identity. However, he confessed to his identity after a little speculation. Legal action will be taken against him.

Currently, Nasir Uddin is serving as ASI of Rangamati District DB branch.
