CHATTAGRAM: A young man, who was accused in a case filed over raping a class-III girl in Banshkhali upazila of Chattagram, was found dead after a shootout between terrorists and the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
The shootout took place on the bordering area of Banshkhali-Pekua early Tuesday (April 24).
RAB-7 Company Commander Ashekur Rahman told Banglanews that a drive was carried out on Banshkhali-Pekua bordering areas. A shootout took place in the drive.
A one-shooter gun, 5 rounds of bullet and 2 cartridges were recovered from the spot.
The bullet-hit body of a rapist named Abdul Hakim Mintu was recovered from the spot, he added.
A resident of Shekherkhil union, Hakim was charged with raping a 10-year old girl while she was cutting grass in a paddy field, at Tekpara village of Shekherkhil under Banshkahli, on the evening of April 18.
A case was filed with Banshkhali Police Station regarding this.
