BRAHMANBARIA: A district court has sentenced life term imprisonment to five people and three years imprisonment to six others for killing a garment businessman Zonaid in Brahmanbaria. 

Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Moazzem Hossain passed the order on Monday (April 23) acquitting 3 accused of the case. 

The lifers are- Akram Hossain, 34, Razib Ahmed, 32, Rifat, 30, Imtiaz Shahin Jony, 35 and Maksudul Hasan, 33.

According to court source, the convicts killed businessman Zonaid after calling him out from home on Aug 4 in 2010 and left the body on the bank of Titas river. Later victim’s brother Masud Mia filed a case with Brahmanbaria sadar police station.

According to convict Akram’s confessional statement, they murdered garment owner Zonaid for not willing to give subscription.
