DHAKA: BNP acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman sent a legal notice to State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam for claiming that Tarique given up citizenship by submitting his passport.

Tarique’s lawyer and BNP law affairs secretary Barrister Kaisar Kamal sent legal notice to Shahriar Alam and two others on Monday (April 23).

The notice sought proof of Tarique’s passport submission or retraction of the remark with apology from the state minister within the next 10 days, otherwise, legal action will be taken.

The notice also stated that Shahriar Alam’s remark on passport submission is absolutely false and politically ill-motivated.

According to the notice, State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam in a meeting London on April 21 said Tarique Rahman have given up citizenship by submitting his passport at the embassy.
