PIROJPUR: A district court on Monday (April 23) sentenced life term imprisonment to two people for killing a housewife, Momtaz Begum, in Mathbaria upazila of Pirojpur district.

Judge SM Jillur Rahman of Additional District and Sessions Judge passed the order with Tk 20,000 fine for each convicts, in default, six more months’ imprisonment.

The convicts are Mukul Akter, 26, daughter of Jahangir Hossain of Patakata village of Mathbaria upazila and Al Amin, 30, son of Babul Mia of Hotakhali village.

According to court source, Al Amin developed relationships with Mamtaz Begum, wife of Faruk Faraji of Chitra village and with her cousin sister Mukul simultaneously. Once the matter came to light, Mukul and Al-Amin planned to kill Mamtaz. 

On Nov 21 in 2009, they killed Mamtaz and left the body in grassland of Golbunia village. Later police recovered the body on information and victim’s husband Faruk filed a murder case with Mathbaria police station.
