8-yr-old girl loses arm as truck hits Injured Sumi in the hospital

BOGRA: An 8-year-old girl lost her left arm and sustained severe injuries in fingers and face as a truck rammed her in Sherua Battala area in Sherpur upazila of Bogra on Sunday afternoon (April 22).

Confirming the matter to Banglanews, Sherpur police station sub-inspector Putul Mohanto said the incident took place around 3:30pm on Dhaka-Bogra highway. 

The victim is identified as Sumi, 8, daughter of a van-puller Dulal Khar of Fultala Dakshinpara area of Sherpur.

It has been reported that Sumi and her father were going to a relative’s house. At one point, when they were standing beside highway to cross it together, Sumi suddenly tried to cross the road in a rush leaving her father’s hand and got hit by the truck. 

She was then rushed to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical college hospital in acritical condition. She became unconscious following the accident but gained consciousness later in the hospital. 

Hospital deputy director Dr. Nirmalendu Chowdhury said she is currently not out of danger and it will take at least 24 hours to observe about her actual condition.
