DHAKA: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the government will arrange all necessary measures for the treatment of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is currently in jail.
The Home boss made the assurance after a meeting with BNP leaders in secretariat on Sunday (April 22).
He said, “BNP leaders have demanded to admit Khladea Zia in United Hospital. I have assured them all necessary arrangements have been made for her (Khaleda Zia) treatment and the government will do whatever needed in future as per jail code and recommendation of specialist physicians.”
In response to a query whether any steps needed for Khaleda’s treatment defying jail code, the minister said, “In that case, we will make decision as per consultation.”
Earlier on Feb 8, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia entered the old Central Jail on Nazimuddin Road in Dhaka, soon after she was handed a five-year imprisonment in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
