Probe report on Sagar-Runi murder due June 3

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Sunday has fixed June 3 for submitting the probe report in journalist couple Sagor Sarowar and Meherun Runi murder case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mazharul Islam passed the order as the investigation officer and Assistant director of Rapid Action Battalion Mohiuddin Ahmed failed to submit the probe report due on Sunday (April 22).

As per the review of the case statement, the submission date for probe report in the case differed 55 times in the last 5 years and four months. There was no visible progress of the case seen in the investigation so far.

On April 18 in 2012, the high Court ordered RAB to investigate and submit report in the case as police and detectives failed to show any progress.

A total of eight people were arrested in connection with the sensational killing that threw shockwaves across the country.
