DHAKA UNIVERSITY:  Allegations have been raised that several female students of Dhaka University (DU), who participated quota reform movement, were directed to leave the dormitory Thursday night (April 19).

They all are residents of Poet Sufia Kamal Hall.

The girls claimed that the hall provost called them after the evening and asked them to leave the hall. They are the reason the hall is facing problems for, they was explained by the provost.

“The provost mam (madam) said the consequence will be expulsion if any general student who joined the quota movement write anything on Facebook and film anything in the hall”, said a fourth-year student citing the provost.

Several girls were seen leaving the hall accompanying their guardians, around 10:00pm. A few of them were seen weeping.

While contacted, Provost Sabita Rezwana didn’t pick the phone calls.

“I have heard about the incident. (I) will ask the provost about the matter,” DU Vice Chancellor Dr Akhtaruzzman told Banglanews.

However, in wake of countrywide demonstrations staged by students of major public and private universities, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said in a national parliament session on April 11 that quota system in the public service government job recruitment will be no more.
