DHAKA: Three policemen were allegedly shot by drug peddlers during a drive in Gandaria area of Dhaka on Thursday afternoon (April 19).

The policemen are- Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Mahsin, sub-inspector Mosharraf and constable Bashir of Gandaria police station.

Gandaria thana inspector (probe) Mahbub Alam told Banglanews that, on information about a large yaba consignment, a team of police took position in an alley in Gandaria. After sensing the presence of law enforcers, drug dealers opened fired leaving them bullet-hit. 

Police detained two drug peddlers from the scene but the rest managed to escape by motorbike. The injured policemen were taken to a local hospital, he added.
