DHAKA: Despite reports of divergence among the protesters of quota system reformation movement, a large faction of them staged demonstrations across the country successfully Tuesday (April 10).    

Students under the banner of Council to Protect Bangladesh General Students' Rights staged protests, without any instruction from the central committee of the body. 

Moreover, Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury’s Monday’s remarks at the Jatiya Sangsad session denouncing the protesters feremented the rage.

Earlier on Monday (April 10), central committee of the student body agreed to suspend the demonstrations after a dialogue with Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, at the secretariat. But, on Tuesday, a large faction of the students continued the demonstrations, being dissatisfied over the assurance that requires a full month to reach the solution.  

On Tuesday, the protesting students separately gave ultimatum to Matia Chowdhury to retract her comment denouncing the quota reforming movement.

In the evening, two groups of students brought a rally jointly from in front of the central library of Dhaka University (DU). Several thousands of students took part in the rally.

Apart from slogans on quota reformation, they also chanted slogans against the denouncing remark of Matia.  

Besides, students of several private universities including Daffodil International University, United International University, East West University, South East University, North South University, and American International University took to the streets separately in different areas of the capital city, expressing solidarity with the movement.
