Transparency international Bangladesh (TIB) has came forward with nine recommendations in an effort to prevent question paper leaks in future public examinations.

Rafiqul Islam, research director of Transparency international Bangladesh (TIB), made the recommendations at a human chain in Dhaka University TSC on Sunday morning (April 1).

He also said that the government did not take enough punitive measures over the level of question paper leak allegations that surfaced during the SSC examinations.

“In most cases, teachers or the educational institutions had been punished for distributing the leaked questions but the real culprits managed to stay out of any accountability. Eventually these steps are not playing effective roles to prevent the leaks”, he said.

Shachetan Nagarik Committee and TIB gave nine recommendations at the human chain including amending section-4 of the Public Examinations (Criminal) (Amendment) Act, 1992, to reinstate the maximum punishment at 10 years of imprisonment and to ensure exemplary punishment under certain other sections; Remove ambiguity in the 'Coaching Business Ban Act 2012' to stop coaching business and incentives to the people concerned in educational institutions; Ensuring the enforcement of the traditional law to stop guide books etc.
