BANDARBAN: Two persons including a teacher of a private university of Dhaka drowned while bathing in Sangu River in Ruma upazila of Bandarban Saturday (March 24).

The deceased are—Shantonu Sarker, 25, a lecturer of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) department of United International University (UIU) and his friend Shahed Ehsan, 25, both hailed from Dhaka. 

Ruma Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shamsul Alam told Bangalnews that the duo went to Boga Lake for a visit Thursday (March 22). 

While returning from there, they went for bathing in Sangu River, at Baruapara ghat Saturday. The duo drowned for not knowing swimming.

However, firefighters have recovered the bodies from the river, added the UNO.
