2 jailed for looting Rohingya relief in Cox’s Bazar

COX’S BAZAR: A mobile court sentenced two persons to one month in prison for looting Rohingya relief in Balu Khali area under Ukhia upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

Assistant Commissioner (land) Ekmamul Siddiqui of Ukhia upazila issued the verdict on Friday night (March 23).

The accused was identified as Khokon, 25, son of Md Ali Hossen, from Balu Khali area under Ukhia upazila, and Hamid, 20, Mohammad Noor.

A syndicate has been doing illegal business on relief that is distributed to Rohingya refugees. When some people were loading a truck with relief, men along with the loaded truck were caught red-handed by RAB, quoting a source of Cox’s Bazar Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-7) camp. 

The seized relief was handed over to Ukhia Army camp, said Major Ruhul Amin, in-charge of Cox's Bazar camp of RAB-7
