Afsana laid to rest beside husband Abid

DHAKA: Afsana Khanom, wife of pilot Abid Sultan who died in the US-Bangla plane crash in Nepal on March 12, has been laid to rest beside her husband in Banani military graveyard.

He was buried by his relatives at 7:00pm after her namaz-e-janaza was held in Uttara. The couple’s only son Tamzid Bin Sultan Mahi and other members of the family were present at the time. 

Afsana passed away around 9:00am this morning after she had been kept on life support at the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital since Sunday.

Afsana suffered a brain stroke after the news of her husband’s death spread and admitted to hospital.

A total of 51 people including Bangladeshi pilot Abid Sultan and all four cabin crew members were killed as the US-Bangla Airlines aircraft crashed while landing at the Kathmandu airport in Nepal on March 12. Twenty-six Bangladeshis were among the dead while 10 Bangladeshis survived the crash.
