Plane crash survivor Kabir’s condition worsens

DHAKA: The physical condition of Kabir Hossain, a survivor of US-Bangla plane crash in Nepal who is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, has worsened and might need life support.

A member of Medical Board and Orthopedic Surgery Department chief Professor Dr. Md. Shamsuzzaman said it to Banglanews on Friday evening (March 23).

He said Kabir is being kept at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of DMCH’s old building. The injured places of his body started to decompose and he needs surgery for recovery. Since his condition is deteriorating, doctors ruled out performing surgery on him. He might need life support any moment.

On the other hand, DMCH Burn unit professor Dr. Abul Kalam told Banglanews that, aside from Kabir, another survivor Shahin Bapari might also need life support for survival as he has been put into ICU after surgery.

A total of 51 people including a Bangladeshi pilot and crew members were killed as the US-Bangla Airlines aircraft crashed while landing at the Kathmandu airport in Nepal on March 12.

Twenty-six Bangladeshis were among the dead.  A total of 10 Bangladeshis survived the crash. Seven of them were brought back home and undergoing treatment at DMCH while 3 others are being treated in Singapore and India.

Shaheen Bapari was brought back to home from Nepal on March 18 and Kabir was brought on March 19. With other survivors, they were undergoing treatment at DMCH.
