DHAKA: Afsana Khanom, wife of US-Bangla plane crash victim pilot Abid Sultan, has died while undergoing treatment in Dhaka Friday (March 23).

She breathed her last at National Institute of Neuroscience and Hospital, around 9:30am, said the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) head Dr Ujjal Kumar Mollik.

Afsana was admitted to the ICU after falling sick on March 18. Afterwards, she underwent two surgeries following suffering stroke twice. She had the first stroke at her Uttara residence in Dhaka on March 18.

However, at least 51 people were killed as flight BS211 of US-Bangla Airlines burst into flames at the Tribhuban International Airport in Kathmandu of Nepal on March 12.

Captain Abid Sultan was rescued in a critical condition. He breathed his last at Norvic Hospital International Hospital in Kathmandu on March 13 while undergoing treatment.

The deadly crash in the history of Bangladesh aviation claimed lives of 26 Bangladeshis, 22 Nepalese, and a Chinese.
