DHAKA: People from all walks of life are coming out in processions from different parts of Dhaka on way to Bangabandhu National Stadium to celebrate country's eligibility to graduate from a least developed country to a developed one.

The government has taken all out preparation for the celebration of the success in the capital city on Thursday (March 22) while the festivity will continue for a week across the country.

Artistes, players, eminent personalities and dignitaries have joined the processions. The capital as well as other parts of the country has been adorned with festoons, posters, banners and colourful flags.

A two-hour cultural function will be held at the stadium from 7:00pm.  There will also be a seven-minute laser show and 12-minute firework display. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will attend the function which will be open to all.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police announced that a number of roads in the capital will be closed from 2:00pm to 6:00pm today to facilitate the celebration.

Earlier in the morning, the Economic Relations Department accorded a reception to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at a programme to celebrate the achievement.

Recently the UN recognized Bangladesh as eligible to graduate from a least developed country to a developed one. The government is seeing the recognition as one of its great achievement and arranged celebration program to mark it.
