The government has appointed Md Shameem Ahsan as Bangladesh ambassador to Nigeria.
The foreign ministry made the disclosure at a press release on Wednesday (March 21).
Shameem Ahsan, a career diplomat, joined the foreign services in 1993 from BCS 11th batch. Currently, he is serving as the consul general of Bangladesh in New York.
Before serving in New York, he also served Bangladesh missions in Washington DC, Rome, Nairobi, Doha and Kuwait.
Shameem, born on September 1 in 1966, graduated from Dhaka University on Political Science. He completed the national defence course on security, strategic and development issues from the National Defence College. He also completed an Arabic language course at the University of Kuwait.
