Vote for ‘boat’ to continue development: PM

CHITTAGONG: Urging the residents of Chittagong to vote for ‘boat’ in the upcoming general election, Prime minister Sheikh Hasina said country gets developed when Awami League is in power and the trend will continue if the party gets another term.

The premier made the remarks while addressing a campaign rally in Patiya of Chittagong on Wednesday afternoon (March 21).

Sheikh Hasina also criticized the main opposition party BNP for their role in backpedaling development, killing innocent lives and for corruption. “We make progress and they go backward every time while in power. So vote for AL in the next election for the continuation of the ongoing development of the country,” the PM said.

Addressing another issue, Sheikh Hasina said there will be no change to reservation of 30 per cent quota for freedom fighters and their successors in public service.

‘Bangladesh is now independent for the sacrifice of the freedom fighters and their sacrifice contributed today’s development. There has to be special arrangements for the freedom fighters. So, there is reservation of quotas for freedom fighters and their successors,’ said the prime ministers.

Recently, jobseekers and university students have been staging demonstration for the reformation of the quota system in government job recruitment.
