CHAPAINAWABGANJ: A district court on Wednesday (March 21) sentenced life term imprisonment to six people for killing one Abdur Rahman in Chapainawabganj.
Judge Md Ziaur Rahman of Additional District and Sessions Judge’s court passed the order in presence of the accused with Tk 10,000 fine for each, in default, three more months’ jail sentence.
The lifers are- victim’s wife Sahar Banu, 44, son Abdul Hakim, 31, Sahara Banu’s sister Hazera Begum, 46, her brother Reazul Islam, 58, Matiur Rahman, 45 and Habibur Rahman, 41.
According to case statement, Shara Banu took Tk 70,000 loan from her husband Abdur Rahman to give it to her brother Reazul Islam. The incident led to a row between the couple. On the night of February 2 in 2012, the convicts hanged Abur Rahman on a mango tree outside of his house.
On the next day, victim’s brother Rafiqul Islam filed a murder case with Shibganj police station accusing six people.
