MANIKGANJ: A district court has awarded death penalty to two persons for killing a man in Manikganj.

District and Sessions Court Judge Md Mijanur Rahman Khan delivered the verdict under sections 302/34 against wife of the deceased Selina Akther and one Nazrul Islam Tuesday (March 20).

The two death-row convicts are on the run.

Idris Ali, rickshaw puller, 35, from Kamarghona village of Harirampur Upazila was murdered in 2011, quoting court sources.

Later, Sub-Inspector (SI) Mahbubul Alom of Detective Branch (DB) of police lodged a case, accusing three persons, including deceased’s wife.

Public Prosecutor (PP) Abdus Salam told Banglanews that the third accused, Dulal, was acquitted.
