DHAKA: A police inspector died following a shootout with suspected terrorists in a drive conducted by the Detective Branch (DB) of police to recover arms from a house in Mirpur of Dhaka early Tuesday (March 20).
Police, however, nabbed three persons from the house located beside Alim Uddin School in Moddho Pirerbagh area. The house has been cordoned-off.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said that a DB team launched the drive on information that terrorists are staying in the house.
Mirpur Model Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Jahangir told Banglanews that the terrorists were staying on the second floor of the building. Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the terrorists opened fire at them. Police fired them in retaliation.
Two police members sustained bullet injuries in the shootout.
