GOPALGANJ: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged parents and teachers to take care of children so that evil forces including militants, terrorists and drug peddlers cannot derail them.

She said: "We have to provide our children a healthy and peaceful life. So guardians and teachers have to give special attention to save them from derailment.”

The prime minister was addressing a Children's Rally and Cultural Programme held marking the 99th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children's Day on Bangabandhu Mausoleum Complex premises.

“We are moving forward following the ideals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” the premier also added

Sheikh Hasina said, “Bangladesh has got UN recognition as a developing country. This is good news we got on the birthday of the Father of the Nation. I congratulate all for the achievement.”

The premier said: "Bangabandhu had the dreamt of establishing a hunger and poverty-free Sonar Bangla. We have been able to achieve its one step advancement. I think the news of graduation of Bangladesh to a developing country is a great success for us. Today's Bangladesh is the result of the efforts which we made so far."

Sheikh Hasina also said Father of the Nation got only 3.5 years to build up the country after independence. If he could a little more time, Bangladesh would become a developed country much earlier.
