DHAKA: Former mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) Sharfuddin Ahmed Jhantu passes away on Sunday afternoon (February 25).

He was 66.

The veteran politician breathed his last around 3:44 pm at Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical University Hospital. 

Confirming the matter to Banglanews, BSMMU director Brigadier General Abdullah Al Harun said Jhantu was undergoing treatment at the Intensive care Unit from February 4. 

Earlier on February 1, Jhantu was admitted to a private hospital in Rangpur following illness due to brain hemorrhage. Later he was transferred to BSMMU in Dhaka.
