DHAKA: Police on Saturday foiled the “black-flag” procession brought out by BNP in protest of getting no permission for holding a rally in Dhaka on Thursday.

Besides, the leaders and activists brought out the procession demanding unconditional release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and protesting her jail sentence.

According to witnesses, about 50 BNP men were picked up from the nearby areas during the incident.

At least 15-20 persons were injured while law enforcing agencies used water cannons to disperse the protesting BNP people, the added.

The leaders and activists started gathering in front of BNP central office in Nayapaltan about 10.00am with black flags and started their procession from in front of the party office after half an hour.

Police used water cannons to disperse the procession as soon as they took to the road.
